Girl listens to story being read

Dr. Rob Jackson continued his  #45SchoolsIn45Days full day visits to all of our campuses at West Buncombe Elementary on Friday.

West Buncombe, or as staff and families call it, “Best Buncombe,” was established in 1917. The school moved to its current building in 1983. West Buncombe offers students a variety of academic opportunities, including a K-4 Dual Language Spanish Immersion program. One of seven in BCS, Spanish Immersion teaches students to be both bi-literate and bilingual.

Service projects are important to the students and staff at the school as they give back to the community. Students can also participate in yearbook club, chorus, Battle of the Books, and more!

“There are so many things that make West Buncombe special, but one thing that I have discovered in newly coming here is the investment each employee at West Buncombe has in ensuring the success of every student,” said Principal Brad Johnson. “Staff members routinely go beyond the scope of their job description in service of our students. As a result, the children at WBES are happy, they are loved, and lifelong bonds are cultivated between the children and adults at our school. We are most proud of the commitment we have in supporting every single child on our campus and developing strong relationships with each child and their families.”
