JROTC Preparing the flags that will be retired

On Sunday, September 11th, the members of the A.C. Reynolds High School (ACRHS) and Charles D. Owen JROTC programs participated in a flag retirement ceremony. Students were taught how to properly retire worn out flags. Instructors of JROTC feel this process is important for students to know, and to also learn about the significance behind 9/11.

“The US Flag represents our Nation and its values,” said David Wise, Senior Army Instructor for ACRHS. “As such, it is important to dispose of the US flag in a dignified manner. It was just a small piece of what we could do as an organization to pay our respects to those lives lost on September 11, 2001.”
