A.C. Reynolds High School students gathered after school on September 30th to participate in the Out of Silence Suicide Awareness and Prevention activities and walk, an event aimed at fostering connection, hope, and mental health awareness within the school community.
Students began the afternoon by taking part in a collaborative art project called “Hopes and Dreams.” Using colored paper, participants created shapes and wrote messages about what they are thankful for, along with their personal hopes and dreams. The project served as a visual reminder of positivity, resilience, and the importance of community support.
Throughout the event, students enjoyed refreshments, participated in additional craft activities, and listened to speakers who shared messages of encouragement and resources for mental health support.
The evening concluded with a walk around campus, symbolizing unity and remembrance for those affected by suicide.
The Out of the Silence event highlighted the importance of compassion, connection, and open dialogue about mental health– reminding students that they are never alone.
