This week high school students from the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs across Buncombe County Schools (BCS) came together to host a special Easter event for the BCS Learning Labs pre-K students. Dubbed Every Bunny Belongs at BCS, the event was designed to celebrate the upcoming Easter holiday and to welcome the younger students to the BCS family.

The event saw CTE students guiding their younger counterparts through a series of festive activities, the centerpiece of which was coloring and assembling adorable bunny headbands. The high school students displayed remarkable patience and creativity, helping the little ones bring their bunny headbands to life, in preparation for what was to come next.

Following the craft session, the pre-K students donned their newly made headbands for an exciting Easter egg hunt, their faces alight with joy and anticipation. The high school grounds buzzed with laughter and excitement as the young participants darted about, searching for hidden treasures. This engaging activity not only got the children excited for Easter, but also served as an informal introduction to the school environment they will soon be a part of.

By involving high school mentors, the event aimed to foster a sense of belonging and community among the youngest members of the BCS family, reassuring them that they have friends and role models awaiting them in their educational journey.

“In the heart of BCS Learning Labs lies a commitment to inclusive education, where every child's unique needs are not just recognized but embraced,” said Pre-K Director Bestie Stockslager. “The program empowers high school students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education CTE program. By providing a nurturing environment that respects the mental, physical, and developmental needs of children, BCS Learning Labs not only shapes future educators but also lays the foundation for a more inclusive and compassionate society.”
