This is just a reminder for our Kindergarten Families: We are so excited to have our new Kindergarten students join us for KinderCamp! Your student will meet all the kindergarten teachers and experience kindergarten for 2 half-day sessions. Breakfast or lunch will be provided (based on the time that you sign up to attend). Please call the school office to reserve your child's spot! 828-686-3856.

Thanks to all that have volunteered so far! We still have a few spots available. Please call or email if you can help us!
Have you driven by the school and thought, my goodness someone needs to work on the grass and weeds at WD? We LOVE our school and want to be proud of the way it looks inside and out. We want it to reflect what an amazing little school we have. Many parents and community members have asked how they can help with our landscaping and grounds. Our wonderful Ms. Chapman has a team to help with the garden beds, but we have not been able to find anyone to lead our team for ground upkeep. We would love to families, churches, community members, organizations, etc. adopt a section of our Warpony "pasture" to keep up! The grounds have been sectioned off into 10 sections. Please let Mrs. Jones know if your family or organization would like to "adopt a section." This will be a 1-year commitment. Each summer you will be asked if you would like to continue or pass it off to another family/organization. The school system will provide any mulch or gravel needed. You will need to bring your own tools. If you want to work outside of regular school hours, arrangements can be made for access to your area. If you want to add any plants, flowers, or other improvements, please communicate your ideas with Mrs. Jones before proceeding. We know we have the most awesome community and families and can't wait to see how you help "Pretty Our Pasture!“ You can email Mrs. Jones at christy.jones@bcsemail.org or call 828.686.3856 to claim your spot!

Attention, BCS Staff:
We hope you are having a wonderful summer. Don't forget to check our Employee Values page regularly for local special discounts just for educators.

What does this mean for you and your child(ren)?
Great news! All enrolled students at Buncombe County Schools are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no cost to your household each day of the school year. Good evening parents!
Due to a loss of a bus driver for bus 276, we are going to need to update ALL our routes on our buses to include the students on bus 276 starting Monday, October 3rd. Please look for a letter to come home tomorrow with your child indicating your bus #, AM/PM pick up and drop off times, and bus stop location. We will need to establish new community stops on other buses to be able to pick up and drop off students with only 2 buses that are running routes. Thank you for your patience as we continue to look for additional bus drivers.
UPDATE!!
Due to the approaching hurricane, the Owen Football Game and Youth Night have been moved to this Thursday night at 7pm at Owen High School. Students should report to the field at 6:45pm. Thank you!
