As the school year continues, we are working hard to ensure all of our students have the resources they need- and you can help! Thanks to a partnership with Purposity, we have identified the most urgent student needs and uploaded them to the Purposity website - a program that allows our community to meet these needs with just a few clicks.

The Bookfair is here!
Looking for new books for your kids? Need some holiday gift ideas? Well, look no further than the WD Bookfair! We will have the bookfair set up in the media center November 3-9. Students can purchase books before school or during their weekly Media Center visit during this week. We will also open the Bookfair late on Wednesday, November 8, following the PTO meeting at 5:30pm. Here are links with more information:

eWallets are easy to set up (here is a link on what eWallets are) and a great way for students to shop without having to carry money to school - parents can follow the steps on the Homepage to create a Scholastic account and set up an eWallet very quickly
The Dairy Classroom Visits WD! We were so excited to meet the cow and presenters from the Dairy Classroom on this cold November morning! Student heard a presentation about dairy farms and then met a dairy cow! Thank you to the Southwest and Southland Dairy Farmers Alliance for bringing this great experience to WD Williams!
The Buncombe County Board of Education will meet in regular session on November 2, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Minitorium at 175 Bingham Road, Asheville.
**Public Comment will be accepted in person. Members of the public wishing to speak will need to come to Entrance “B”. Doors will open at 4:45 p.m. and speakers must arrive no later than 5:15 p.m. to complete entrance screening procedures and sign in to speak. All speakers will have precisely three minutes to speak and must adhere to guidelines set forth in BCS Policy #2310 – Public Participation, including all reasonable rules established by the Superintendent.
**Following monthly Public Comments, the Board will hear public comments specifically related to the required board policies addressing the State’s Parents Bill of Rights statutes. These policies are linked in the meeting agenda.

Individuals wishing to speak during this time should sign up on the designated sheet before the meeting begins. These comments will adhere to the same public comment guidelines set forth in BCS Policy #2310.

Families, Please make plans to join us for our WD Fall Fest and Glow Run TONIGHT at 5:30pm. Tickets will be $1 each or 11 for $10 and 25 for $20. Our Glow Run tickets are $5 each. Each game is one ticket. Participants win tokens for prizes. The festivities will be set up in the gym and in the field by the gym. We will also have fun songs from our Kindergarten and First grade students, and a dance from our Fourth grade Dual Language students in the theater at 5:30! This is a great fund raiser for our PTO and a fun night for all our families. We hope that you will make plans to attend!

Checking out the WD Garden! Our students had a chance to explore the garden this week to see what has grown over the summer. Look at those tomatoes!
We are excited to partner with Nothing Bundt Cakes in a fundraiser for WD! This great business is bringing cakes to sale at our Open House on Friday. They will be located near the front office lobby. KinderCamp!
Our newest Kinder students were invited to join our Kindergarten teachers on August 9 & 10 for KinderCamp! They had a great time meeting new friends, trying out some kindergarten activities and playing on the playground together! 😊We are excited about these new Warponies joining WD!
