GETTING STARTED
All volunteers must be approved by the school principal are required to complete a volunteer application:
Visit the Volunteer Tracker website and click the green “New Registration” button.
Enter and confirm your e-mail address and click the Continue button.
Create a password, enter your name and click the Register button.
Check your email to activate and complete your application.
Once you are approved, you will receive a confirmation email so you can log into your account to see upcoming opportunities.
VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES
Report to the office to sign in and out.
Wear identification badges provided by the school while participating in volunteer activities.
As a courtesy to others, please turn off cell phones while engaged in your volunteer duties.
Be professional, responsible and safe -- always put children first.
Always follow the correct emergency safety procedures as outlined by the school.
Communicate with designated staff members to ensure clear expectations and task assignments
Respect that a teacher’s desk and/or work area is private.
Exercise mature judgment in supervising children and respect their rights and privacy. Discuss any student concerns directly with the teacher or the school administrator.
You may well be working closely with children sometimes on a one-to-one basis. If you are working with a student on his/her own, ensure that the door is left open or that you and the student are visible to others.
Abide by volunteer rules and procedures.
DO NOT ENGAGE IN THE FOLLOWING:
Do not discipline students. Please work closely with your teacher or school administrator if discipline issues arise.
Do not administer medications to students.
Do not drive school and/or activity buses.
Do not take a student off of the school campus unless permission is given by the school administrator.
Do not access student records.
Do not photograph students (unless requested to by the teacher or school administration.)
Do not exchange emails, texts, phone numbers, social media messages or give out your own personal details with students.
Volunteers like you play a vital role in enriching the educational experience of our BCS students. Your willingness to give your time, energy and expertise demonstrates a profound commitment to the well-being and success of our young learners, and for that, we are truly grateful.
