Nesbitt Discovery Academy

The Nesbitt Discovery Academy opened on August 20, 2014 for students as the first Science, Technology, engineering and Math (STEM) High School in Western North Carolina. The school was named in honor of the late Senator Martin L. Nesbitt Jr. and was officially dedicated on September 21, 2014. In August 2015 an additional one hundred students entered the school for a total enrollment of two hundred freshman and sophomores.
