The center follows the Buncombe County Schools’ schedule for holidays, teacher work days, and snow days/delays. 

On scheduled early release days, the center will close 30 minutes after the release of the high school students. Parents will be notified in advance about any schedule changes. 

Enrollment practices

BCS preschools will prioritize placement of staff children in the order of completed interest forms. Additionally, the program will prioritize sibling placement, pending space availability. If and when spots are available without a staff waitlist, children who reside in the Buncombe County School district will be considered for enrollment.

The centers will operate with the following enrollment guidelines:

• A child must be 3 or 4 years old by August 31st of the year they enter 

• Must be fully potty-trained*

Families can fill out interest forms to indicate which site they prefer and the year that their child will start the program.

Students who are considered kindergarten age by August 31 are not eligible for preschool enrollment. 

Enrollment forms will be emailed in the spring of year before the child starts. Classrooms seek to maintain a balance of 3 and 4 year olds.

*Our center defines, “potty trained,” as no more than two accidents in a month. We understand that accidents can happen and will work with your family in the event there is a change in your child’s life. It is imperative that you communicate any changes your child is going through that could impact their toileting ability and control.
