We are pleased to inform you that Buncombe County Schools will be implementing a program available to schools participating in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). We will also implement Universal Meals at Nesbitt Discovery Academy (NDA).
What does this mean for you and your child(ren)?
Great news! All enrolled students at Buncombe County Schools are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no cost to your household each day of the school year. Parents (except those with students at NDA), there are no action steps for you to take at this time to participate in this program. We look forward to serving your students beginning August 28, 2023.
NDA parents will receive separate instructions regarding Universal Meals.

AC Reynolds students participated in Special Olympics, where athletes of all ages from throughout the county compete. The day is filled with friendly competition, face painting, outdoor activities, and animals. It is a wonderful opportunity that helps bring the community together.
The PTA is hosting a dance for ACRMS 8th Grade Students on Friday, May 19 from 6-8 pm at Covenant Community Church. Students can purchase a ticket from Wednesday 5/17-Friday 5/19 in front of the cafeteria for $5. Permission slips are required to attend.

It's time for Sports Physicals! Physicals will be Monday, May 1, starting at 3 pm in the ACRHS gym.
ACRMS students will be walked over to high school and can be picked up at the gym of the high school once they’ve finished.
Students must have a completed form with $15 cash or check payable to the school the day of the physicals. Forms can be picked up in the front office or you can print one from the link below.

On March 28, students in our Conexiones class, a continuation of the elementary Dual Language program, participated in the Model UN debate at UNCG. The topic was Water Scarcity and the program was in Spanish. There were 21 schools participating from North and South Carolina and another 2 from Colombia via Zoom. Our students did an outstanding job and had so much fun at the same time. We're so proud of them!
Students in Ms. Ebner's Exploring Nutrition & Wellness class were able to have a hands-on experience and learn what the different colors of fruits and vegetables mean. This lab was lead by Dayna Miller who is the Green Aprons Program Lead with Bounty & Soul.
Bounty & Soul is a community-based non-profit organization which provides access to fresh produce and wellness education for everyone.
Thank you to everyone for this opportunity! We saw lot's of smiles today and students were able to enjoy tasting the colors of the rainbow and share leftovers with faculty and staff.

The next PTO restaurant fundraiser will be on March 7 at 828 Family Pizzeria on Merrimon. It will be a combined event for both the ACRHS PTSO and the ACRMS PTA, a true Rockets Spirit Night! Make sure to mention the Rockets so your proceeds benefit our schools.
The "Show the Love" goal was $5,000 - and we raised $4,609! Thank you so much to the families of ACRMS for your support and generosity. These funds will help support teachers and staff with any additional needs they have in the classroom through the mini-grants program.
