Breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost to all students next school year! We are pleased to inform you that Buncombe County Schools will be implementing a program available to schools participating in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). We will also implement Universal Meals at Nesbitt Discovery Academy (NDA). What does this mean for you and your child(ren)? Great news! All enrolled students at Buncombe County Schools are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no cost to your household each day of the school year. Parents (except those with students at NDA), there are no action steps for you to take at this time to participate in this program. We look forward to serving your students beginning August 28, 2023. On March 28, students in our Conexiones class, a continuation of the elementary Dual Language program, participated in the Model UN debate at UNCG. The topic was Water Scarcity and the program was in Spanish. There were 21 schools participating from North and South Carolina and another 2 from Colombia via Zoom. Our students did an outstanding job and had so much fun at the same time. We're so proud of them!

Students in Ms. Ebner's Exploring Nutrition & Wellness class were able to have a hands-on experience and learn what the different colors of fruits and vegetables mean. This lab was lead by Dayna Miller who is the Green Aprons Program Lead with Bounty & Soul. Bounty & Soul is a community-based non-profit organization which provides access to fresh produce and wellness education for everyone. Thank you to everyone for this opportunity! We saw lot's of smiles today and students were able to enjoy tasting the colors of the rainbow and share leftovers with faculty and staff.
