Sheriff's Office SRO's raise donations to fulfill 180 holiday wishes

🎁🎄Buncombe County residents came together last weekend to donate toys and other supplies to the Annual Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office’s Toy Drive, helping more than 180 families fulfill their children’s holiday wishlists.🎄🎁

On Dec. 2, 3, and 4, the Sheriff’s Office, including our School Resource Officers, set up their Toy Collection drive at the Walmart on Hendersonville Rd. They had help thanks to a large box truck on loan from Hearts with Hands. The goal was to fill up the truck with as many donations as possible. Almost every item that was on the childrens’ lists was donated (items not available at Walmart will be purchased with monetary donations that neared $6,000). Deputies reached their goal by filling the truck from front to back. Over the next few days, deputies will sort the donated items at the Hearts with Hands warehouse, which the nonprofit is also generously providing.

“The community support was absolutely fantastic,” said SRO Deputy Jared Porshia. “We appreciate all our community partners, such as Hearts with Hands and Walmart, as well as everyone who came out to donate to support children during the holidays.”

Thanks to everyone who donated time and resources to make the holidays brighter for children in Buncombe County.
