A special group of grown-ups hopped off the bus at some Buncombe County Schools.
BCS participated in North Carolina’s “Legislators in Schools Week”. After a welcome and brief presentation by Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson at T.C. Roberson High School, guests boarded a bus to make stops at other BCS schools. The legislators were able to visit classrooms and see students and teachers in action.
“We are so very grateful for the time our guests shared to be part of this special event,” said Dr. Jackson. “We appreciate the opportunity to have them see some of the powerful moments that happen in classrooms across the school system every day.”
NC Rep. Lindsey Prather and NC Sen. Warren Daniel, joined by his wife and legislative research aide, Lydia, represented the General Assembly. Other attendees included Robin Ramsey, field representative for US Sen. Tom Tillis, Kye Laughter, field representative for US Sen. Ted Budd, Connor Brown, field representative for US Rep. Chuck Edwards, and Asheville City Councilman Bo Hess. Between stops, they had an opportunity to speak with members of the Buncombe County Board of Education and BCS school leaders to learn more about school programs and student opportunities.
