Students at T.C. Roberson High School recently had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear directly from one of the world’s leading economists.

Peter Howitt, the 2025 Nobel Prize winner in Economics, visited Elizabeth Ford’s Economics and Personal Finance class, bringing real-world insight to the concepts students study every day.

During his visit, Howitt shared his journey into the field of economics, explaining how curiosity about how the world works can lead to groundbreaking ideas. Known for his work on economic growth and innovation, he broke down complex topics into relatable examples, helping students understand how economic decisions impact everything from local businesses to global markets.

Students were especially engaged as Howitt discussed the role of innovation in shaping economics - highlighting how new ideas, technologies, and entrepreneurship drive progress. He encouraged students to think critically, ask questions, and consider how they can contribute to the future economy, no matter their career path.

For Elizabeth Ford’s students, the experience brought their lessons to life in a powerful way. Moments like this highlight the value of connecting students with real-world leaders - sparking inspiration, broadening perspectives, and showing just how far their own futures can go.
