Elementary, intermediate, and middle school students sang beautifully at their All-County Chorus concerts on March 30.
The performances, in North Buncombe Middle School’s auditorium, featured classic melodies, jazz tunes, and percussive danceable jams featuring a live band. Students drilled down with award-winning clinicians Aleisa Baker (elementary/intermediate) Jeremy Clayton Tucker (middle) to learn the pieces in time for the show. Leicester Elementary student Aubree Roberts won a design contest for the program cover and T-shirt.
"The All-County Chorus Clinic and Performance was an outstanding success, and we are incredibly proud of all the students who participated,” said Buncombe County Schools (BCS) arts education specialist Jaime Graeber. “Their hard work, focus, and enthusiasm were evident throughout the clinic and culminated in a truly impressive performance.”
Graeber thanked the dedicated BCS music teachers, whose preparation, guidance, and commitment made the experience possible. Their efforts ensured that students arrived ready to learn, collaborate, and perform at a high level. She also thanked accompanists Sarah Fowler (elementary/intermediate) and Robert Waller (middle) for their excellent work providing musical backing for the performances.
“Events like the All-County Chorus serve as a powerful reminder of the essential role the arts play in education,” she said. “Music education not only nurtures creativity and self-expression, but also builds confidence, discipline, and collaboration skills. Providing students with opportunities like this helps ensure a well-rounded educational experience that supports both academic and personal growth."
