At North Buncombe Elementary School, leadership isn’t just about titles - it’s about impact. And for Assistant Principal Elsilee Garcia, that impact is felt in classrooms, hallways, and throughout the entire school community.
With 15 years in education, including four years as an assistant principal, Mrs. Garcia has dedicated her career to uplifting others and creating opportunities for success. Her work goes beyond daily responsibilities - she is deeply committed to helping both students and staff recognize their potential and grow into confident leaders.
“I am deeply passionate about fostering leadership in both my colleagues and students, especially those who haven’t yet recognized their own potential,” Mrs. Garcia shared. “I am truly honored to be in a position where I can serve others and help make positive impacts in our community.”
That servant-hearted approach is something her colleagues see every day. Principal Heidi Allison describes Mrs. Garcia as someone who leads with purpose and compassion.
“Mrs. Garcia is a true servant leader who consistently looks for ways to make a difference in the lives of students, staff, and families, helping them feel welcomed, understood, and empowered,” Mrs. Allison said. “Her bilingual skills provide an invaluable layer of support for families, helping them feel welcomed, understood, and empowered.”
Whether Mrs. Garcia is supporting teachers, encouraging students, or connecting with families, her leadership reflects a deep commitment to building a strong, inclusive school community.
As we celebrate National Assistant Principal Week, we extend our gratitude to Elsilee Garcia and all assistant principals across Buncombe County Schools. Thank you for your dedication, your leadership, and the countless ways you make a difference every single day.
