Students and two adults line dancing on gym floor

Students at Sand Hill-Venable Elementary School had a special audience in the gym this week as families were invited to take part in “Parents in P.E.” Week, an event designed to bring parents directly into their children’s physical education classes.

Throughout the week, parents joined students during their scheduled P.E. time, participating in games and activities led by P.E. teacher Tony Ball. The gym quickly filled with energy as students smiled, waved and eagerly welcomed their parents onto the court.

Ball planned a variety of activities that allowed both students and adults to jump right in, creating an atmosphere of teamwork, laughter and friendly competition. From warm-up exercises to interactive games, the event gave families a firsthand look at what students experience during physical education each week.

For many students, the highlight was sharing the space with their parents and showing off the skills they’ve been learning in class. Parents also had the opportunity to experience just how active and engaging P.E. can be.

Events like “Parents in P.E.” Week highlight the important role physical education plays in student wellness while also strengthening the connection between schools and families. By inviting parents into the gym, Sand Hill-Venable Elementary demonstrated that staying active can be both educational and fun for the entire family.
