Students in classrooms throughout Buncombe County Schools are celebrating stories for Read Across America Week - even the youngest learners.
BCS Learning Labs, located at North Buncombe, Erwin, Reynolds, and Roberson high schools, have had special guest readers throughout the week. High school principals and School Resource Officers joined BCS Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson, Associate Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Reed, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jamie Johnson, and Assistant Superintendent Chip Cody taking turns as super storytellers.
Read Across America Week is a national event that aims to foster a love of reading and the written word from an early age.
This year’s theme is “Championing Kindness,” and featured stories about helping others, and some classics by Dr. Seuss in honor of the beloved author’s birthday.
