Jeff Curtis with Owl

Glen Arden fourth-grade students got an up-close look at birds of prey during a special visit from local falconer Jeff Curtis.

Curtis brought several birds, including falcons and a barn owl, giving students the opportunity to see the animals up close while learning about their behaviors, habitats and training. Students eagerly asked questions as Curtis shared information about how birds of prey hunt and how they are cared for.

Another handler, Samantha, assisted Curtis during the presentation, helping manage the birds as students observed from just a few feet away.

The excitement peaked when teachers had the chance to hold one of the falcons. Students giggled and watched in awe as the bird perched calmly on a gloved arm, creating a memorable, hands-on learning experience that brought classroom lessons to life.
