Fourth grader Silas Tisman is proving that big achievements can come from careful practice, confidence, and a love of words.
Silas recently earned the title of school spelling bee champion at William W. Estes Elementary, outspelling his peers one word at a time. His victory means more than a trophy - it gives him the opportunity to represent his school and the Buncombe County Schools system at the state spelling bee competition on March 1.
Preparing for the competition has taken dedication and determination, and Silas has shown both throughout the process. Teachers and classmates say his hard work and focus truly paid off, and they are proud to cheer him on as he takes the stage at the state level.
As Silas prepares to compete against top spellers from across North Carolina, one thing is already clear - he has made his school and community proud, and his spelling journey is just getting started.
