🎄🎁✈️ Elves for Enka, a student-led initiative at Enka High School, once again turned the school’s media center into a hub of generosity, celebration, and connection during the holiday season.
Organized by the Student Government Association (SGA) and supported by teachers, families, local churches, businesses, and community members, the project provided hundreds of thoughtfully selected gifts to students identified by staff as needing a little extra holiday cheer. This year’s effort raised $4,699- double last year’s total- funding gifts, decorations, and activities.
“For us in SGA, it shows what leadership looks like,” said Enka High senior and SGA Executive President Stanley Cooper. “Knowing you made a difference in someone’s day or their life is really powerful.”
In addition to gift distribution, students enjoyed a festive celebration complete with an ice cream sundae bar, popcorn, movies, games, cupcakes prepared by a foods class, and a gift-wrapping station stocked entirely through community donations- allowing students to wrap presents for family members and loved ones.
“Elves for Enka isn’t just about gifts,” said Enka High social worker Molly Pitman. “It’s about creating a moment where students can celebrate, feel cared for, and know their school community is behind them.”
SGA and other Enka High clubs also led a month-long food drive in November, collecting more than 10,000 food items weighing four tons. They distributed the food to Enka families and two neighborhood churches that collectively serve hundreds of families each week, helping bridge a critical gap during the holiday season.
