A group of BCS students decked the bus with silver and gold, loaded it up with the treats, and set off on a merry journey to bring holiday cheer to local firefighters.
Cane Creek Middle School’s Student Ambassadors created a Cheer Bus as a way to thank first responders for serving the community. They stayed after school last Wednesday, making cards and gifts for firefighters at four local fire stations.
“I made pumpkin bread for the firefighters,” said Autumn, an 8th-grader along for the festive ride. “I wanted to do something to show them how much they mean to us and that their work is appreciated.”
The bus made stops to visit Fairview, Skyland, and Reynolds firefighters, which included caroling at each fire station.
“I love that our students are into the fun and good cheer of it all,” said counselor Sarah Peterson, who organized the mission along with counselor Gina Gylys. “It’s sweet that they’re excited about doing nice things for the community.”
The Cheer Bus had 21 Student Ambassadors on board for the holiday mission, joined by the school counselors, school data manager Kim Rogers, and teacher Cyndi Gosnell, who drove the sleigh.
