On Nov. 24, Clyde A. Erwin Middle and High School’s string musicians helped usher in the holiday season with a dazzling performance at the annual Ingles Giving Tree Lighting Celebration inside the Asheville Mall. With shoppers gathered around and festive lights twinkling above, the ensemble performed beloved holiday classics.

The students’ talent was showcased far beyond the mall. Their performance was broadcast live on WLOS-TV, giving thousands of viewers across Western North Carolina the chance to experience the rich sounds and timeless melodies played by dedicated young musicians. From soft, peaceful arrangements to spirited holiday favorites, every piece reflected hours of rehearsal and a passion for their craft.

The Ingles Giving Tree, an annual food drive and fundraising campaign for Manna FoodBank, is a celebration rooted in community and generosity that provided the perfect backdrop. As lights were illuminated and ornaments sparkled, the notes from the Erwin strings program added a beautiful and memorable soundtrack to the evening.
