North Buncombe Youth Theater offered a vibrant look behind the curtain this week as students held a final dress rehearsal for “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr.”, which opens Thursday at the James DeBruhl Theater at North Buncombe High School.

The young cast brought the classic story to life with energetic musical numbers, candy-colored costumes and a sprinkle of stage magic as they prepared for their four-day run. Directors said the students have been working for months to create a family-friendly production filled with imagination and humor.

Performances are scheduled for Dec. 4–6 at 6 p.m., and a 3 p.m. matinee on Dec. 7. Tickets are $5 for students in grades K–12 and $10 for adults. They can be purchased online at nbyouththeater.ludus.com.
