Hominy Valley Elementary recently opened its gym doors to families as part of its annual Parents in P.E. Week, an event aimed at getting students and their loved ones moving together.

Physical Education teacher Forrest Jones invited parents and grandparents to join their children in class and take part in a variety of active games. Students led the way, guiding adults through stations designed to be both energetic and fun.
By midweek, Jones had welcomed over 140 family members into his P.E. classes, with even more expected to participate as the week continued.

Jones said the goal is simple: show families what physical education looks like today and encourage physical activity at home. “Any chance we have to get families engaged and moving with their kids is a win,” he said.

The event has become a popular tradition at Hominy Valley, giving families a chance to connect, play, and see firsthand the value of staying active.
