North Buncombe Elementary students took part in a run that makes getting dirty part of the fun.
Students in the school’s running club participated in its first-ever Color Run. Members, dressed mostly in white, made six laps around the ball field, running through clouds of colorful powder at every turn. By the end of the near mile-long event, students laughed as they compared how their clothing had been transformed since the start of the race.
“We wanted to do something different this year,” said Hillary Cole, a parent organizer of the event. “Colors are just fun, and we wanted the kids to have a special, memorable experience.”
After the run, club members and families celebrated their achievement with fall goodies including cookies and hot apple cider.
