Thursday, September 18, was anything but ordinary for first grader Alleigh at Weaverville Primary. As she enjoyed her lunch, she had no idea that a very special visitor was waiting to see her.
After two years apart, Alleigh’s older sister, who lives in Washington state where her husband is stationed with the United States Army, was back in town for a short visit. Wanting to make the reunion unforgettable, Alleigh’s older sister arranged to surprise her at school.
When Alleigh turned around to see her sister, her face lit up with pure joy. The sisters wrapped each other up in a sweet hug that had been long overdue. Teachers, classmates, and staff watched the touching moment as they held on to each other tightly.
For Alleigh, it was a lunch period she will never forget - a reminder of the love that distance can never diminish. And for her sister, it was a chance to reconnect and create a memory that both will carry in their hearts until the next time they’re together.
