As we navigate the current school year, we are always in need of individuals to enhance the academic journeys of our students by becoming a substitute teacher. We are reaching out to our wonderful community to invite individuals who are interested and available to serve as substitute teachers when needed. Interested candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and pass a background check. If you are not a licensed educator, you also must complete an online Effective Substitute Teacher Training (ESTT) Course. Key details about substitute teaching with Buncombe County Schools:
Flexibility: You can choose the days and times that suit your schedule. We understand the importance of balancing family commitments.
Money: you earn great pay for each assignment ($120 for non-licensed subs and $145 for licensed subs) while giving back at the same time.
Support and Training: We provide an orientation to review classroom routines and policies. Our staff will be readily available to offer guidance and support throughout your substitute teaching experience.
Impact: Your presence in the classroom has a positive impact on our students' learning and helps maintain a sense of continuity in their education.

Virtual Zoom... Friday, January 12, 2024 @ 9:00am (or)
In-Person... Friday, January 12, 2024 @ 1:00pm
During each 30-minute session, we will have a short presentation on eligibility, how substitute assignments work, tips from administrators and a peek at classroom technology. Prospective substitutes are asked to register so we can get an accurate headcount.
