CHS students learn with VR

Earth and Environmental Science teacher Ms. Bryant and Science curriculum coach Ms. Whittier took CHS students on a planetary exploration of Mars using a giant-sized Mars map and virtual reality. Sawyer O.’s favorite part of the lesson? “I liked learning how far Olympus Mons is from Elysium Mons on the Mars map.” Student Izzy A. reports: “I liked the VR headsets and I liked the map they brought out that showed the altitudes and where the rovers landed”. Even CHS principal Cathy Haughney used VR to navigate intergalactic terrain in a Mars rover. Students related how the exploration of Mars can help expand what we know about our planet, our solar system and the entire universe, helping to enrich the concepts they are learning.
