During Art/PE, Mr. Martin and Coach Morgan show students how to design paper airplanes on the new big screen in the gym. Then students are given an opportunity to color, design and make modifications to their airplane before the throwing competition. The two types of throws we worked on is throwing for distance and throwing for accuracy.
The Garden Club of Weaverville Elementary received a grant to purchase much-needed items to revitalize our school garden. Some items included plants, seeds, garden tools, watering cans, and soil. We are so thankful to have such a supportive PTO at our school!

Mrs. Clouse's class had a blast on our walking field trip to Main Street in Weaverville. Third grade visited local businesses to learn about economic principles such as supply and demand. As you can see, students also had lots of fun taking silly photos along the way! Thank you to Prescription Pad, Keller Williams, and Trout Insurance for welcoming us!

All - County Art Show starts next week!
UKULELE UNIT! Ukuleles are fantastic instruments where we can apply everything we have learned as we sing and accompany ourselves simultaneously! This is a fantastic brain workout as we sing with pitch, rhythm and lyrics, coordinating our left hand changing chords and our right hand strumming. Sounds overwhelming? Surprisingly, it's quite natural! Our students gain a lot of fine and gross motor skills, and develop skills for learning other string instruments! What have we been learning in music? Recently, 3rd and 4th grades completed their Marimba Ensemble projects! Each class recorded their performance and their videos are available on Mrs. Dauphinais' Google Site! Students in Mrs. Brown’s class worked together to arrange phrases into sentences, then sentences into paragraphs. They practiced adding variety to their sentences for well crafted narrative paragraphs.
Spring-time means art show time in Mr. Martin’s room! The show is currently being put together and will be on display at the Asheville Mall from April 15th through May 4th. There will be a family night reception on April 16th, 5-7pm.
REMINDER: Friday 3/29/24 is an early dismissal day for students. Have a safe and peaceful Spring Break!
Mrs. Berzinski's second grade class is making kazoos as we learn about sound chains: the source of the sound, the mediums through which soundwaves travel, and the receiver of the sound. We used the soundwaves that kazoos produce to watch salt & sugar crystals bounce atop a homemade drum!
Martha Linsley came in to read to Mr Hintz's class in celebration of Read Across America. She read an amazing book titled "My Great Aunt Arizona" by Gloria Houston. The students loved hearing about a woman who taught in her small mountain town for most of her life. Thanks Ms Linsley!

Mrs. Webb’s class is learning about force, motion, and how friction affects motion using the book Sheep in a Jeep. It is a fun way to explore these concepts.
The Lego Robotics Team had a great practice session on Saturday at STEM Day.
They did a wonderful job explaining to students and parents from all over the county how they code their robots and answered questions about their Innovation project.
Our students had a blast at the Southern Conference Education Days at Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville! Students enjoyed a morning of high-energy basketball fun, and found inspiration in talented college athletes, musicians, and performers!
