Hello, Glen Arden students and families! My name is Jamie Slagle and I am honored to be the principal of Glen Arden Elementary School.

After graduating from Western Carolina University in 1999, I began my career teaching 2nd grade at Leicester Elementary for 12 years before moving to a 5th grade classroom at Eblen Intermediate School. After teaching at Eblen, I served several schools in the North Buncombe district as an Elementary and Intermediate Instructional Coach. During my time as an instructional coach, I pursued my Masters in Executive Leadership Studies through Gardner Webb University. For the last 9 years, I have served as Assistant Principal at Fairview Elementary School.

Glen Arden is proud to be a Leader In Me School as well as home to the Spanish Immersion Program! There are numerous opportunities for students to grow and develop personally, socially, emotionally, and academically at Glen Arden Elementary.

I look forward to serving the students, staff, families, and community of Glen Arden Elementary School! Glen Arden is a special place where students grow as leaders, readers, writers, and mathematicians every day. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive learning environment as we prepare students for their tomorrow.

Hello Glen Arden students and families!  My name is Cindy Jamison and I am excited to be the Assistant Principal at Glen Arden Elementary School. I have been an Assistant Principal in Buncombe County since 2005. Previously I served at Fairview Elementary, Candler Elementary, Hominy Valley Elementary and North Buncombe Elementary.

I am a proud product of Buncombe County Schools graduating from North Buncombe High School in 1994.  I received a Bachelor's in Religion and Psychology from Mars Hill College in 1999, a Master's in Elementary Education from East Tennessee State University in 2001 and Educational Specialist Degree in Administration from Western Carolina University in 2007.  Prior to becoming an administrator I taught third grade at Marion Elementary School in McDowell County.

My husband, Lee is the media coordinator at Weaverville Primary School and we live in the North Buncombe District with our wonderful daughter, Gracen and our pet rabbit, Buttercup! In our spare time we are active in the children and youth ministries at The Rock of Asheville, supporting our daughter at Asheville Dance Theater, traveling to Disney, and cheering on the Duke Blue Devils!

When I am not at school, church, the dance theater or softball field I am planning vacations for families. I also work as a travel advisor for Memory Makers Vacation Planning. My love for travel led me to helping families love traveling as much as my family does.

I am very excited to be joining the staff and students at Glen Arden Elementary.  I know it will be a fun and fast-paced school year!
