Good morning, BCS Families and Teammates.

Our BCS Transportation teams have been out early this morning monitoring travel conditions. Due to light snow sticking in some parts of our area this morning, the North Buncombe, Enka, and Erwin Districts of Buncombe County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students today, Monday Nov. 10, 2025. All other BCS districts are on a regular schedule. Again, this is a 2-hour delay for the North Buncombe, Enka, and Erwin districts only. Buses will not travel on icy roads. This delayed start will give DOT crews extra time to treat any problem areas, and allow for travel with more daylight.

BCS Teammates should report to work at their normal time, if they are able to travel safely. Teammates who will be arriving at work later than their normal start time should communicate with their principal or supervisor.

Breakfast will be served to students when they arrive at school.

While conditions are forecast to improve, BCS Transportation teams will continue to assess conditions. We will update you should we need to further alter today’s school schedule.

Again, this is a two hour delay for the North Buncombe, Enka and Erwin districts only. All other BCS districts are on a regular schedule.

Thank you. Be safe, and have a good day!

Exciting news! Ms. Meadows and Ms. Shreve are partnering with EF Tours to take students to Greece in Spring 2027 - it's going to be an amazing adventure. (This is not a BCEC/BCCI/BCS sponsored trip.) Be sure to sign up for the interest meeting on Nov. 10th!

BCEC and BCCI students act as citizen scientists to conduct a snail survey at Appalachian Highlands Science Center in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Snails are important bio-indicators on the health of the park and the surrounding region, and students helped contribute to a 20+ year longitudinal study of these important species and what they tell us about our environment.

How do artists use images, lines, colors, shapes, and other techniques to tell a story about themselves and our world? BCEC Year 2 students in Ms. Meadows's English classes explored this question during their field trip to the Asheville Art Museum. After studying narrative writing and author's craft in class, they participated in a guided tour and created a self-portrait to learn about the connections between art and literature.
