To celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day we are spotlighting one of our very own female student athletes, Halle Eddings.
On the court you can see her hyping up her teammates while playing fiercely with her eye on the ball. Off the court you will find her planning and completing community service projects for the National Honor Society and the Asheville Junior Assembly. Halle currently plays three sports at T.C. Roberson High School: basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse. She is also a member of the ski and snowboarding club. 
Being an athlete has given her a dynamic skill set that she uses on and off the court.
“Being an athlete has taught me how to set goals, hold myself accountable, and to have people’s backs,” she said. “My time at T.C. will come to an end, but being an athlete, and carrying myself as such, will be with me for the rest of my life.”
In celebration of this special day, Halle wants to remind younger female athletes to stay consistent..
“Coming in to practice every day is what makes you better, no matter how you feel,” she said. “Sometimes your off days can be the time for the most improvement. I would also say that no matter your team’s record, every win makes you stronger, but most importantly, every loss builds character while also making you stronger.”
Halle looks up to a fellow T.C. Roberson athlete, Emerson Hoyle. Hoyle has since graduated and is a sophomore at the University of Florida where she continues to play volleyball.
“Being on a team with her was so special,” Halle said
Halle has enjoyed her time and has excelled as a student at T.C. Roberson. When asked what she loved most about T.C. she pointed to the school’s spirit and rich traditions.
“There is so much I love about T.C.,” she said. “I feel like I truly bleed blue and gold. That’s because of the community it creates, from athletics to the classroom I always feel included and seen. T.C. has so many rich traditions that I am lucky to be a part of.”
Basketball Coach, and athletic director, Kevin Keen commended Halle’s bright personality and said she epitomizes what it means to be a student-athlete.
“Halle stands out as an exceptional teammate, consistently motivating and cheering on her team,” he said. “Her infectious positivity radiates to those around her, allowing her to be a leader in the classroom, on her teams, and in the community.”
