Dear BCS Families and Staff-
As many of you heard today, Governor Cooper has ordered that all K-12 public schools remain closed for in-person student instruction until at least May 15, 2020. Our Virtual Days remote learning that launched on March 18 will remain in place. We encourage all students to check their student email accounts in order to access Virtual Days instruction from our teachers. Please also encourage students to shut down and restart their devices as they normally should each week. Please contact your child’s school if you need help.
The BCS Spring Break will remain unchanged; it will be from April 6-10, 2020.
Our principals and central office administrators will work together to provide our families with information regarding further curriculum guidance and specific school activities scheduled towards the end of the year. We also expect to learn more from the North Carolina Dept. of Public Instruction (NCDPI) in the coming days.
Please note that this executive order allows us to keep our buildings open, with minimal staffing, in order to provide critical services such as meal pick-up and delivery, clerical tasks and maintenance, custodial, and technology support.
For all of the latest school-related updates, including a list of our meal sites and community partners also offering assistance, please visit
Response.BuncombeSchools.org. Also,
buncombecounty.org/bcready is a wonderful resource with community updates and health information.
Our principals will follow-up with staff and families soon to address questions and concerns specific to your school.
Thank you for your cooperation, support, and flexibility as we navigate this unprecedented situation together.
