The lane markers have been placed and the pool is filled with fresh water! Today, workers are putting the final touches on our new BCS Aquatic Center ahead of tomorrow’s inaugural Buncombe County Swim Meet. The pool measures 25 feet by 25 meters, allowing student-athletes to train and compete according to either standard.

The swim meet begins at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, and will include competitors from Clyde A. Erwin High, North Buncombe High, Charles D. Owen High, A.C. Reynolds High, T.C. Roberson High, and Asheville High. Each meet will be hosted by a school to handle event logistics, and Thursday’s historic first meet will be hosted by A.C. Reynolds High.

“We’re thrilled to offer this state-of-the-art new swimming facility to our student-athletes,” said BCS Superintendent Dr. Tony Baldwin. “We look forward to a successful meet and wish our swimmers the very best as they dive into a new chapter of athletics here in Buncombe County Schools.”

The BCS Aquatic Center is located adjacent to T.C. Roberson High School at 250 Overlook Rd. in Asheville, North Carolina.

Buncombe County Schools is in the process of reviewing its website to ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
