BCS Communications Team Wins Gold

From left: Stacia Harris, Ben Rickert, and Tim Reaves hold NCSPRA Blue Ribbon AwardsThe Buncombe County Schools Communications Department has received six gold awards and one bronze award from the North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) in recognition of the team’s committed coverage of student and teacher success.

"I am so proud of the accomplishments of our Communications Team!" Said BCS Superintendent Dr. Tony Baldwin. "The six gold medal awards reflect not only upon the expertise found in these handful of articles but the overall excellence in school communication our team provides BCS stakeholders on a daily basis!"

At Friday’s Blue Ribbon Awards ceremony, the Communications Department took home the following gold awards:

-- “Snow Day French Toast” (Category: Electronic Media)

-- “The Buncombe County Schools Advantage Magazine” (Category: Publications)

-- “2019 District Teachers of the Year” (Category: Electronic Media)

-- “We Are Erwin” (Category: Electronic Media

-- “We Are Blackhawks” (Category: Electronic Media)

-- “Proud Graduate” (Category: Photography)

The team also took home a bronze award for a four-part video series “Everyone is Welcome” (Category: Marketing):

3) Preparing for the Future 
4) Public Education 

BCS is committed to preparing students for their tomorrow. This mission creates unique learning moments for our students, countless school success stories, and powerful community partnerships. The core mission of the Communications Department is to tell the community about the great things happening in their community schools. We work to tell those engaging stories about public education, as well as share important safety and emergency information with parents, staff, the community, and the media. The department consists of Director Stacia Harris, Assistant Director Ben Rickert, and Digital Communications and Marketing Specialist Tim Reaves.
Buncombe County Schools is in the process of reviewing its website to ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
