At BCS kindergarten camps, rising kindergartners prepare for success in their first year of school!
Over the last couple of weeks, primary and elementary schools introduced their newest students to nurturing environments full of learning and friendship. The children learned social skills through play and got comfortable with the structure of a typical school day.
“We wanted to let them know what a classroom is like, who their teachers are, and help them make some friends,” said Fairview Elementary School kindergarten teacher Caitlin Sullivan. “We’re teaching them how to share, take turns, and be kind to each other. Mostly, it’s making them comfortable with the classroom.”
Whether by listening to teachers read books, running around the playground, playing with stuffed animals, or looking at kid-safe science equipment, the rising kindergarteners have made a lot of progress in just a few short days, she said.
“They’ve been so excited since the camp started,” Ms. Sullivan said. “I know they’re going to love it here.”
