On Monday, March 22, BCS’ four intermediate schools warmly welcomed back fifth- and sixth-graders for in-person instruction, five days per week. Students and teachers of North Windy Ridge Intermediate, Joe P. Eblen Intermediate, Charles T. Koontz Intermediate, and Enka Intermediate schools enjoyed starting off the week with so many familiar faces nearby.

North Windy Ridge Principal Brent Wise said it was a very smooth start to the big week.

“We are loving having our fifth and sixth grade students back in school. It has made North Windy Ridge feel more complete,” he said. “And, of course, we’ll continue serving our remote students.”

Under the Board of Education’s recent Plan A decision, all remaining K-13 students will be able to return for in-person instruction five days per week on March 29. This decision does not affect families who prefer their students to continue learning remotely.

Wise noted that every teacher at his school was glad to see their students reunited.

“The most important thing is that students are making those social connections that they have missed for the last several months,” he added.
