BCS Communications
Hello, BCS Families-
As we launch into a fully remote learning environment until September 25, the BCS Communications Department would like to remind you of some important resources that are available to you. All of the links below can be found on our district homepage BuncombeSchools.org or ReturnToLearn.BuncombeSchools.org.
Technology/Remote Learning
Please visit Remote.BuncombeSchools.org to find important information and resources to support your child’s remote instruction. If you have any questions or concerns about your school-issued device or educational platforms your child is using, please reach out to the Technology Help Desk.
School Nutrition
Families that took part in the no-cost summer meals program will be glad to learn the program has been extended through Dec. 31, 2020. Families are still asked to fill out a Fall 2020 Free/Reduced Meal Application via THIS LINK as soon as possible. You can also get a paper copy from your school or the School Nutrition Department.
For all students, curbside meal pickup will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students may pick up lunch for that day and a breakfast for the following morning. Curbside pick up locations and a Meal Service FAQ are linked HERE.
Childcare Options
We understand that childcare may be a concern for your family. We have maintained a robust list of childcare and day camp options offered by our community. This list is updated regularly. Please check back often.
BCS Notifications
Staying connected to your school and district-wide communications is crucial during this uncertain time. Anytime you change your phone number, email, or address, please update that information with your school’s data manager. You may also sign up for notifications straight to your phone by downloading the BCS App for Apple or Android. It’s the fastest way to receive urgent information.
We understand how challenging remote learning might be for some families. We encourage you to reach out to your school’s teachers and administrators directly with any questions or concerns. Our schools are committed to working with all of our families to successfully navigate the next few weeks together.
The Buncombe County Board of Education, following guidance from the Governor’s office and local and state health professionals, will decide on any further modifications to our Return To Learn plan this semester and communicate that decision before September 25.
