As the marathon meal service continued uninterrupted over Spring Break, Oakley Elementary School staff were hard at work serving healthy and sanitary curbside meals to students. They were part of the ongoing countywide effort to provide needed meals to students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of April 10, Buncombe County Schools Nutrition staff led the charge in preparing and serving more than 206,000 meals since March 16!

Teacher assistant Dawn Crudup worked alongside the nutrition staff, helping serve families and load buses with meals for delivery. She even made a colorful sign for their serving table that read, "It's no fun to stay back 6 feet, but we still have good food to eat!"

During the lunch period, WLOS news reporter Karen Wynne spoke to Crudup about the school's ongoing efforts to feed children for Friday's Thanks to Teachers feature.
