Return to Learn: Meal Sites

BCS NutritionBuncombe County School Nutrition is back in business. Qualifying families should fill out a Free/Reduced Meal Application as soon as possible. Beginning September 1, families will pay for school lunch just like a normal cafeteria transaction. Please consider adding money to your student’s meal pre-payment plan to ensure a faster meal pick up. Students may purchase meals and ala carte items. If you qualify for the free/reduced lunch program, you may pick up a meal at no cost. Meals will be served curbside according to this schedule.

During the school year, BCS students are encouraged to participate in their school's breakfast and lunch programs. Families may also benefit from the the community meal resources below.

Across North Carolina, you can find sites for student meals at no cost near you through a statewide interactive map, or simply text ‘FOODNC’ to 877-877. In Spanish, text 'COMIDA' to 877-877. The City of Asheville also maintains this local meal site list and interactive map of area sites.

Parents can also call 2-1-1 to speak with an operator who will help them locate meal sites in their community. The 2-1-1 service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Services are provided in English, Spanish and many other languages.
