2020 All-County Middle and High School Bands Perform

Students practice at North Buncombe High on January 14, 2020.On Tuesday, January 14, Buncombe County Schools proudly presented the 2019-20 Middle School, High School, and Senior High School All-County Band Concert! Community members and families gathered at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy the work of talented student-musicians from across Buncombe County and the Asheville area. Held in North Buncombe High School's James T. DeBruhl Auditorium, the free public performance featured selections ranging from John Philip Sousa to the 1980s rock hit Don't Stop Believin'.

Throughout the year, the county's top student vocalists and instrumentalists participate in challenging and fun All-County events that encourage collaboration and musicianship.

This year’s middle school band guest director was Mrs. Mary Kathryn Bowman Choat of Hanes Magnet School in Winston-Salem. The high school band was conducted by Dr. Carson Vermillion of Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN. The senior high school band was directed by Mr. Lafe Cook of the Dobyns-Bennett Band Program in Kingsport, TN.
