Superintendent's Comments

Dr. Tony Baldwin commented on a variety of topics concerning Buncombe County Schools and its students, faculty, staff, and the communities served by the system. These remarks included:

Calendar Survey I want to begin by reminder our parents and staff that we currently have a calendar make-up day survey on the district website. We are asking for your input to assist us in determining how to make up not only our most recent days lost to inclement winter weather but those potentially lost in the days to come. One option that we are adding for feedback to the survey is the potential of extending each day by up to twenty minutes in the months of March and April. Again, we encourage participation by all relevant parties. The intent is to bring the results back to you the board as a makeup plan is developed.

Successful Transition Speaking of the impact of winter weather, we were extremely fortunate to have five consecutive days for completing high school exams and transitioning to the new second semester.

Congrats, BCS Grads!
A reminder that our Mid-Year Graduation is set for this Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Thomas Wolf Auditorium. We have 170 graduating with 156 walking!
