New Principals Announced for 2017/18

Superintendent Dr. Tony Baldwin has announced 17 new administrative assignments for Buncombe County Schools for the 2017-18 school year. Several principals announced their retirement earlier this year, creating many opportunities for Principals and Assistant Principals who are currently in the district, and others who are new to the BCS family! The new assignments are as follows:



Gregory Bailey is the new Principal at Erwin High School. Mr. Bailey comes to us from Haywood Co. Schools. He has been the Principal of Pisgah High School since 2011. View Mr. Bailey’s bio HERE.

Reginald Bright is the new Principal at Koontz Intermediate. Mr. Bright has served as the Principal at A.C. Corcoran Elementary School in North Charleston, S.C. since 2012. View Mr. Bright’s bio HERE.

Joanne Walker is the new Principal at Hominy Valley Elementary. Since 2014, Ms. Walker has been the Assistant Principal at Hendersonville High School. View Ms. Walker’s bio HERE.

Jason Miller is the new Principal of Barnardsville Elementary. He has served as the Assistant Principal at Eblen Intermediate since 2014. View Mr. Miller’s bio HERE.

Nicole Roberts is the Principal at Black Mountain Elementary. She’s serving as the Assistant Principal at Black Mountain Primary and Emma Elementary (since 2010 and 2011, respectively). View Ms. Roberts’ bio HERE.

Janet Greenhoe is the new Principal of Community High School. Since 2007, she’s been the Assistant Principal at T.C. Roberson High School. View Ms. Greenhoe’s bio HERE.

Stephen Chandler will be the Principal at Weaverville Primary School. He’s served as Principal of Candler Elementary since 2010. View Mr. Chandler’s bio HERE.

Danna Grimes is the new Principal at Johnston Elementary. She’s been Principal of Barnardsville Elementary since 2015. View Ms. Grimes’ bio HERE.

Charlotte Hipps is the new Principal of Candler Elementary. She’s served as the Principal of Johnston Elementary since 2012. View Ms. Hipps’ bio HERE.

Dr. Angela Jackson is the new Principal of Fairview Elementary. Since 2005, she’s been the Principal of Hominy Valley Elementary. View Dr. Jackson’s bio HERE.

Dr. Jamie Johnson is the new Principal at North Buncombe Middle School. She’s been the Principal of Reynolds Middle School since 2012. View Dr. Johnson’s bio HERE.

Jim Lewis is the new Principal at Owen Middle School. Since 2010, he’s been the Assistant Principal at Owen High School. View Mr. Lewis’ bio HERE.

Caroline Lynch is the new Principal at W.D. Williams Elementary. She’s been the school’s Assistant Principal since 2016. View Ms. Lynch’s bio HERE.

Dr. Paula Pinkerton is the new Principal at W.W. Estes Elementary. She’s been the Assistant Principal at Estes since 2015. View Dr. Pinkerton’s bio HERE.

Dr. Samantha Sircey will serve as Principal of North Buncombe High School. She’s served as the Principal of North Buncombe Middle since 2015. View Dr. Sircey’s bio HERE.

Stanley Wheless is the new Principal at Reynolds Middle School. He’s been the school’s Assistant Principal since 2012. View Mr. Wheless’ bio HERE.

Jennifer Reed will move to the BCS Central Office to be the Director of Elementary Education. Since 2012, she’s been the Principal at Fairview Elementary. View Ms. Reed’s bio HERE. 

These assignments were approved by Board members at Thursday’s Regular Board of Education Meeting. Friday morning, senior leadership announced each new principal’s appointment to their respective faculty and staff.
