Stacia Harris

Director of Communications / Public Information

Stacia Harris Mrs. Stacia Harris has extensive experience in television news and promotions and marketing. A graduate of Wake Forest University ('01), Stacia worked in the Winston-Salem/ Forsyth County Schools communications department for four years after graduation. She then transitioned to TV news, and then promotions. Over nearly a decade, she worked in Nebraska, West Virginia and Virginia at various TV stations. She gained extensive experience in writing, anchoring, reporting, producing, shooting and editing compelling stories and promotional pieces.

 In 2015, she moved to Asheville to accept a position in the BCS communications department. In her time here, she has held several positions in the department and is looking forward to continuing to promote and highlight all the wonderful students, teachers, and staff in Buncombe County Schools!

Additionally, she earned a Master's of Science in Management and Leadership (MSML) from Montreat College in 2019. She's currently in the Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership (DEOL) program through Gardner-Webb University. When she isn’t working or studying, Stacia enjoys reading and spending time with her family and pets.

Ben Rickert, MA

Ben Rickert Mr. Ben Rickert believes strongly in the value of education at all levels and loves to see students succeed. He studied Performing Arts Technology at the University of the Michigan ('02) and earned a Masters Degree from Michigan State University in Telecommunications, Information Studies, and Media ('11), where he also taught radio and video production courses.

Prior to work with Buncombe County Schools, Mr. Rickert worked in public television promotions and event technology, engineered fine arts recordings, and operated a video production company in Western North Carolina. His extensive experience in production, marketing, videography, editing, photography, and writing allow him to create meaningful and strategic digital stories. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter outdoors, hiking, mountain biking, strategy games, flying drones, and black coffee.

Tim Reaves

Tim Reaves Mr. Tim Reaves believes education is the pathway to a better life, and he wants to share stories of student success at Buncombe County Schools. He studied journalism at Appalachian State University (’09) and gained experience as a reporter, photographer and content editor at The Independent Tribune in Concord, North Carolina, and The Franklin Press in Franklin, North Carolina. Mr. Reaves enjoys playing guitar and singing in the band Brother Bluebird. He also enjoys hiking and kayaking in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, landscape photography, good food, good music, good coffee, and good books.
