Energy Management

Energy Management

Welcome to Buncombe County School's energy management web page!

School districts all over the country have found that smart energy choices can help them save money, provide healthier, more effective learning environments, and reduce maintenance costs. On top of all of these benefits, saving energy is also good for the environment. Everyone can play a role in energy conservation--even by turning off the lights in a classroom every time you leave.

In a typical school, heating and cooling systems (HVAC) account for nearly 60% of the energy consumed, while lighting accounts for roughly 30% of energy consumed. The potential for energy conservation by changing habits, optimizing HVAC efficiency, installing high-efficiency equipment, and retrofitting or replacing lighting is immense. Our goal is to work in conjunction with schools and across departments to maximize energy and cost savings.

Continuing on the decades of progress we have made in energy conservation and cost savings, Buncombe County Schools is excited to further expand its' energy management program. It is our hope that not only will our work reduce energy consumption and utility costs, but that it will also have a positive impact on our environment.
