Many thanks to local hotel management company Virtelle Hospitality for a recent donation of 152 COVID-19 rapid testing kits, which will help Buncombe County Schools cover testing needs for students and staff alike.

Last week, Virtelle President and CEO Himanshu Karvir personally delivered the kits to the BCS Central Office. The rapid antigen kits are used to detect and manage COVID cases in local schools, along with other prevention measures recommended by the CDC and the North Carolina StrongSchools Toolkit.

"In anticipation of an increase in testing needs for our employees, Virtelle had proactively ordered several kits for our team members,” Mr. Karvir said. “Because our need for these kits has been less than anticipated, Virtelle is happy to donate our surplus kits to Buncombe County Schools to help fill their urgent need for rapid test kits. We are happy to be able to play a small part in keeping our community safe.”

“BCS is so fortunate to have community relationships such as this one with Himanshu,” said BCS Associate Superintendent Susanne Swanger. “This donation of rapid antigen tests will fill in a great need and hopefully keep more students in school. It is so powerful when we work together to benefit our Buncombe County students and staff.”
