Board Briefing: February 2, 2017
Posted on 02/02/2017
Study Abroad Presentation Students and teachers from Buncombe County Early College told Board Members about some of the highlights and lessons they learned on their 12-day study abroad trip to China last month.
Also, in the Good News segment, the School Nutrition Department and its dedicated volunteers were recognized for the success of the Summer Meals Program. This program offers free breakfast and lunch to everyone 18 years or younger at sites all around Buncombe County Schools during the summer months.
Plus, Board Members approved a resolution to be sent to the N.C. General Assembly urging lawmakers to pass a bill that would mitigate the effects of the new K-3 class size mandate. The law, as it stands now, would cost Buncombe County Schools $4.5 million to add almost 80 teachers to those grade levels.
